EQHO Communications is delighted to announce it has agreed a deal to sponsor the Lao Elephants Football Club.
The only international Australian Rules football club based in Lao PDR, the team will compete in a series of international games throughout the 2014 season.
The Phants will head to Bangkok in August to pit their wits against outfits from Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar for the Indo China Cup, followed by a trip to the Philippines for the Asian Championships in October where over 12 Asian countries will be represented.
On January 25th 2014, a new chapter in the AFL Asia's history was etched, as for the first time a full Lao national side competed against a full expatriate international team (Thailand Tigers) in Vientiane.
This demonstrates the growing popularity of Australian Rules in Lao and Asia – the sport first took off back in the 1980s with the foundation of a number of teams in Japan.
The ultimate aim of the club is to develop enough Lao players to allow them to possibly compete in the 2017 World Cup and we're glad to see the Lao Elephants have some real ambition. In fact, it's one of the reasons we've decided to sponsor them.
With a recent record comparable to almost every other side in the Asia Pacific region, now really is the time for the Phants to shine!
